Oman International Container Terminal LLC (OICT)
Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) is a joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Steinweg of Netherlands and a number of other well-established Omani Investors. OICT is located inside the Port of Sohar and will be equipped with the most advanced facilities, having the ability to cater to the largest container vessels sailing today. It will serve as the gateway for international trade in Oman as well as a hub for container carrier connections. The Port of Sohar is strategically located outside the Straits of Hormuz in the Gulf of Oman, approximately 200km from Muscat and 160km from Dubai.
OICT is a member of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) Group , a wholly-owned subsidiary of the multinational conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL). Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) is the world's leading port investor, developer and operator with interests in a total of 308 berths in 51 ports, spanning 25 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia. HPH also owns a number of transportation-related service companies. In 2009, the HPH Group handled a combined throughput of 65.3 million TEU worldwide.
