Record gate moves elevate throughput at Hutchison Ports Sohar
Twice in the month of August, Hutchison Ports Sohar’s Terminal C recorded the passage of over 3,000 container trucks through its new automated gate system – a new record. The recent implementation of a truck appointment system also supported this record-breaking result.
”Within two weeks in a peak month, over 3,000 trucks twice passed through the automated gates in a single day,” said Albert Pang, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports Sohar. “I am confident that our investments will contribute to the growth of the shipping industry and the local economy in Al Batinah region and beyond,” he added.
By speeding up the flow of cargo into and out of the terminal, the two systems help bring about easier access to various destinations within the GCC and the rest of the world. Due in part to the performance of these systems, Hutchison Ports Sohar handled a record monthly total of 107,000 TEUs in August 2017.
With a wide range of direct weekly calls and frequent feeder services, Hutchison Ports Sohar is a great inter-modal facility that supports supply chain management and helps Oman develop worldwide trade relations.
